Le souffle au coeur (Murmur of the Heart, 1971)、Lacombe, Lucien (1974) 和 Au revoir les enfants (Childhood's End, 1987),見架上有 said 病逝前接受訪問的 documentary,出於對他的尊敬和欣賞(他既是一位 public intellectual,對政治、社會作出睿智而滿懷悲情的質疑、評論和譴責,也是一位有不錯鋼琴造詣的音樂家,曾與 daniel barenboim 論樂論藝結集成書),也一併買下。
至於 Au revoir les enfants 和導演 malle,Philip Kemp(一位電影史學者,在 University of Leicester 教授 film journalism)寫道:
The moment of adolescent crisis, the point at which the adult world, in all its messy ambiguity, drives in upon and disrupts childhood certitudes, always fascinated Louis Malle ......
In the last scene, as the three Jewish boys and Pere Jean are led away to their deaths, Jean Bonnet glances back, and Julien (a.k.a. the young Louis Malle) raises his hand in timid salute. In that small, affirmative gesture can be read a promise, which this film, with its emotional commitment, its richness of incidental detail, and the warmth and lucidity of its regard, forty years later duly fulfilled.
