a science-fiction movie directed by ridley scott and adapted from a novel by philip k. dick.
this is a very rich and well-made movie. and although it was produced in 1982, the setting still looks wonderfully futuristic and the themes more relevant than ever. if we have to sum it up in one line, the film is about what it is to be human. it is an entertaining yet philosophical movie exploring topics such as: globalization, the impact of technology and capitalism on society, biotechnology and engineering, the roles of the creator and the created, the death of god, the importance of emotion, love and memory in human nature, death and the meaning of life.
